19.10.2025 – CHÚA NHẬT XXIX THƯỜNG NIÊN – NĂM C
Lc 18,1-8
“Đức Giêsu kể cho các môn đệ dụ ngôn
để dạy các ông phải cầu nguyện luôn,
không được nản chí…” (Lc 18,1)
CHIÊM NGẮM MẸ SỐNG TIN MỪNG:
Thánh sử Luca thuật lại: Đức Giê-su kể cho các môn đệ dụ ngôn về một bà góa nghèo bị oan ức, chỉ biết kiên trì kêu xin cho đến khi được minh oan, “để dạy các ông phải cầu nguyện luôn, không được nản chí” (c.1). Người lý luận rằng: nếu một vị thẩm phán bất chính còn động lòng trước sự bền bỉ ấy, huống chi Thiên Chúa là Cha nhân hậu lại không sẵn lòng đoái thương “những kẻ Người đã tuyển chọn”, là những đứa “con cưng” của Người sao? Chắc chắn Người sẽ ban cho ta điều mà Người thấy là tốt nhất, vào đúng thời đúng buổi. Sự kiên trì chờ đợi là thời gian cần thiết, để ta hiểu và biết tận dụng Món Quà quý giá mà Người ban tặng, hầu hữu ích cho sự sống đời đời của ta.
Đức Thánh Cha Phanxicô nói rằng: cầu nguyện là hơi thở của đức tin, là tiếng kêu âm thầm phát xuất từ tâm hồn của những ai tin và phó thác nơi Chúa…, vì đối với Đức Giêsu: cầu nguyện không phải là lải nhải nói nhiều, nhưng cần phải thinh lặng phó thác nơi Cha, Đấng biết chúng ta cần gì.[1]
Cầu nguyện kiên trì đem lại sức mạnh nâng đỡ đời sống đức tin, nhất là khi chúng ta gặp gian nan thử thách. Trong cuộc giao chiến với quân A-ma-lếch, dân Ít-ra-en chỉ chiến thắng khi ông Môsê giơ tay cầu nguyện. Mỗi lần ông mỏi mệt hạ tay xuống, Ít-ra-en lại thua. Việc hai ông Aharon và Khua đỡ tay ông Môsê diễn tả sự hiệp thông và khích lệ nhau kiên trì trong cầu nguyện, nhờ đó, dân Chúa đã chiến thắng.[2]
Thiên Chúa là Cha rất mực yêu thương chúng ta, nên Người dẫn dắt để ta đạt tới mức trưởng thành, qua đời sống cầu nguyện, dù đôi khi ta phải cố gắng, phải kiên trì chờ đợi. Thiếu kiên trì, ta sẽ đánh mất tình thân với Thiên Chúa, hoặc không còn tin rằng Thiên Chúa là Cha của mình. Hơn nữa, khi cầu nguyện, điều quan trọng là ta cần nghe Chúa nói, như thánh Phaolô dạy môn đệ Timôthê chuyên cần lắng nghe Lời Chúa trong Sách Thánh.[3] Chính nhờ nghe Lời Chúa, ta nhận ra thánh ý Chúa và làm theo ý Người. Việc cầu nguyện kiên trì sẽ uốn nắn tư tưởng của ta đi vào đường lối của Chúa và để ta trưởng thành hơn trong đức tin, cậy, mến, chứ không phải để thuyết phục Chúa làm theo ý muốn của ta.
Vì thế, dù sốt sắng hay khô khan, ta hãy cứ kiên trì cầu nguyện, cũng đừng mất lòng tin tưởng, và hãy thành tâm xét lại lời nhắc nhở của thánh Giacôbê: “Anh em không có là vì anh em không xin, anh em xin mà không được là vì anh em xin với tà ý.”[4]
Hôm nay, Ngày Thế giới Truyền giáo, Đức Thánh Cha Lêô XIV xác nhận tầm quan trọng của lời cầu nguyện khi nói: “Khi còn là linh mục và sau đó là giám mục truyền giáo tại Peru, chính tôi đã chứng kiến đức tin, lời cầu nguyện và lòng quảng đại trong ngày này có thể biến đổi toàn thể các cộng đoàn.”[5]
Kinh Mân Côi chính là phương thế cầu nguyện đơn sơ và dễ dàng nhất, giúp chúng ta cầu nguyện liên lỉ mọi nơi mọi lúc như Mẹ Maria. Mẹ sống mật thiết với Chúa trong khi thành công rực rỡ (các mầu nhiệm Vui, Sáng), hay khi buồn phiền, đau khổ (mùa Thương), và cả khi hân hoan mừng Chúa sống lại (Mùa Mừng). Qua Chuỗi Mân Côi, ta cũng được cùng Mẹ sống lại những biến cố cuộc đời của Chúa và Mẹ trong chính cuộc sống hằng ngày của ta.

Tôi trung thành lần Chuỗi Mân Côi, nhất là khi gặp khó khăn, thử thách.
CẦU NGUYỆN VỚI MẸ:
Lạy Mẹ Maria, qua Chuỗi Mân Côi mỗi ngày, xin Mẹ dẫn con đến gần Chúa hơn. Xin Mẹ chuyển cầu cho con ơn đức tin và sự kiên trì, phó thác mọi sự nơi Chúa với tất cả lòng yêu mến và trung thành như Mẹ. Amen.
Lạy Mẹ Maria Vô Nhiễm Nguyên tội,
Xin cầu cho chúng con hằng chạy đến kêu xin Mę.

THE TWENTY-NINTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME, YEAR C
(Lk 18,1-8)
“Jesus told His disciples a parable
to show them that they should always pray and not give up”
(Lk 18,1)
CONTEMPLATE MARY LIVING THE GOOD NEWS
St. Luke the Evangelist recounted that: Jesus told His disciples a parable about a poor widow who was wronged and she was only aware of perseverance in her plea until she was vindicated, “to show them that they should always pray and not give up” (s.1). According to His reasoning, if an unjust judge was moved by such perseverance, what more God, the merciful Father, wouldn’t be willing to have compassion on “those whom He has chosen”, His “darling children”? We’ll certainly be granted by Him whatever He realizes as the best one, at the right time. The persistent waiting is the required time for us, so that we understand and we’re aware of taking advantage of the precious Gift which will be bestowed on us and which is useful for our eternal life.
Pope Francis said that: Prayer is the breath of faith, the silent plea whose origin comes from the hearts of those who believe in God to Whom they entrust themselves…, since towards Jesus: prayer isn’t the babblement on annoying insistence, but we need to silently trust in the Father Who knows what is necessary for us.[6]
Persistent prayer provides the sustaining power to our life of faith, especially when we face difficulties and trials. In the battle with the Amalekites, the Israelitish people only won when Moses’ hands were being raised in prayer. Every time he grew tired and lowered his hands, Israel lost. The communion and encouragement to each other were expressed by Aaron and Hur’s act of holding Moses’ hands for persevering in prayer, thanks to which God’s people had already overcome.[7]
We’ve been loved so much by God, our Father, Who has thus led us to the maturity level, through a life of prayer, although we sometimes have to try and patiently wait. Without perseverance, our intimate relationship with God will be lost, or we’ll no longer believe that God is our Father. Moreover, while praying, the importance is that we need to listen to God, as Timothy, Saint Paul’s disciple, was taught by him to diligently listen to God’s word in the Holy Scriptures.[8] It’s really due to listening to God’s word, we then recognize and do His will. Our thoughts will be shaped by persistent prayers, owing to which we follow God’s path and we’ll grow more mature in faith, hope and love, instead of convincing God to do our will.
Therefore, whether we’re fervent or unzealous, let’s persevere in prayer, don’t lose our trust as well, and let’s sincerely reconsider St. James’ remindful words: “You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives.”[9]
Today, the World Mission Day, the importance of prayer was confirmed by Pope Leo XIV who said that: “As a priest and then a missionary bishop in Peru, I personally witnessed how the entire communities have been able to be transformed by the faith, prayers and generosity on this day.”[10]
The simplest and easiest means of prayer is really the Rosary by which we’ve been assisted with constantly praying everywhere and at all times like Mary, Who had intimately lived with God in times of great success (the Joyful and Luminous Mysteries), or in sad and wretched ones (the Sorrowful Mysteries), and even in times of joyful celebration for Jesus’ resurrection (the Glorious Mysteries). Through the Rosary, along with Mary, we can also relive the events of His and Her life in our own daily one.

O Mary, lead me closer to God through the daily Rosary. Intercede for me the faith and perseverance, and I entrust everything to God, with all my love and fidelity like You. Amen.
