Ga 2,13-22
“Đem tất cả những thứ này ra khỏi đây,
đừng biến nhà Cha ta thành nơi buôn bán”
(Ga 2,16)
CHIÊM NGẮM MẸ SỐNG TIN MỪNG:
Sau khi Chúa Giêsu về trời, các tông đồ đi loan báo Tin Mừng khắp nơi. Khi số tín hữu gia tăng, thì sự bách hại cũng ngày càng dữ dội, đặc biệt tại Rôma. Suốt hơn 300 năm, Giáo Hội phải cử hành phụng vụ âm thầm trong các hầm mộ. Năm 313, hoàng đế Constantino ban Chiếu chỉ Milano, nhìn nhận và tuyên bố Kitô giáo được tự do hoạt động trên toàn đế quốc Rôma. Sau khi theo đạo, ông xây dựng cung điện Laterano và dâng cho Giáo Hội làm nhà thờ Chánh tòa của Giám mục Rôma. Đền thờ này được dâng kính thánh Gioan, trở thành Vương cung Thánh đường và là “mẹ của mọi nhà thờ trên toàn thế giới.”[1]
Đức Giêsu đã xua đuổi những kẻ buôn bán, lật nhào bàn ghế của những tay đổi bạc và nói với những kẻ bán bồ câu: “Đem tất cả những thứ này ra khỏi đây, đừng biến nhà Cha ta thành nơi buôn bán.” (c.16). Bởi chính Người mới là Đền Thờ đích thực, như ngôn sứ Êdêkien đã được thị kiến: Từ bên phải Đền thờ, có dòng nước chảy ra thành một dòng sông: “Sông này chảy đến đâu, thì ở đó có sự sống.”[2] Quả thật, Nước và Máu của Đức Giêsu chảy ra từ cạnh sườn bị đâm thâu trên thập giá đã phát sinh nguồn mạch mọi ân sủng và sự thánh hóa trong Giáo Hội.[3]
Đền thờ là nơi Thiên Chúa hiện diện, nơi mọi người quy tụ để tôn thờ, cảm tạ Thiên Chúa và lãnh nhận muôn hồng ân Chúa ban. Trong Bài Đọc II, Thánh Phaolô nhắc nhở chúng ta: “Đền Thờ Thiên Chúa là nơi thánh, và Đền Thờ ấy chính là anh em.”[4] Nhờ Bí tích Rửa Tội, mỗi Kitô hữu được thanh tẩy và thánh hiến để trở nên đền thờ Thiên Chúa. Tuy nhiên, có những lúc ta đã để cho Đền thờ tâm hồn mình biến thành nơi buôn bán, như Đức Giêsu đã thấy tại Đền thờ Giêrusalem năm xưa: các tư tế cho phép người ta mua bán chiên, cừu, bồ câu và đổi bạc tại sân Đền thờ. Tiếng kẻ buôn người bán cãi cọ, tiếng la của các con vật và mùi xú uế khiến cho Đền thờ mất đi sự trang nghiêm, linh thánh.
Theo khuôn mẫu Đền Thờ Giêsu, chúng ta cần duyệt xét ngôi nhà tâm hồn mình và tu chỉnh mỗi ngày, dựa trên nền tảng là Chúa Kitô: Trau dồi các nhân đức hiền lành, khiêm nhường, đơn sơ, bác ái…, để biến nó thành Đền thờ cho Thiên Chúa ngự; những gì là ích kỷ, ghen tỵ, tính toán hơn thua, bất công, gian dối… phải bị loại bỏ hết. Chúng ta sẽ trở thành những dòng suối nước ân sủng của Chúa, tưới mát thế giới quanh ta.
Đức Maria luôn giữ tâm hồn trong sạch, xứng đáng là đền thờ của Thiên Chúa. Mẹ trân quý đặc ân Vô Nhiễm Nguyên Tội và giữ mình khỏi các tội nhẹ, để luôn “đẹp lòng Thiên Chúa”.[5] Mẹ luôn trân trọng đền thờ thân xác của Mẹ, và sẵn sàng dâng hiến để cưu mang Đấng Cứu Thế nhờ quyền phép Chúa Thánh Thần. Từ đó, Trái Tim Mẹ đã trở nên ngai tòa cho Con Thiên Chúa ngự trị; ánh mắt, môi miệng và toàn thân Mẹ trở nên dòng suối tuôn trào ân sủng và niềm vui cho mọi người Mẹ gặp gỡ. Bà Êlisabeth chỉ cần nghe tiếng nói của Mẹ đã được tràn đầy Thánh Thần; các mục đồng, ba đạo sĩ, cụ ông Simêon, cụ bà Anna đều tràn trề hạnh phúc; tiệc cưới Cana tràn ứ rượu ngon…
SỐNG TIN MỪNG VỚI MẸ:
Noi gương Mẹ, tôi giữ tâm hồn sạch tội, luôn thờ lạy Chúa đang hiện diện trong tôi và đem niềm vui cho mọi người.
CẦU NGUYỆN VỚI MẸ:
Lạy Mẹ Maria, xin giúp con nhận biết và loại bỏ khỏi tâm hồn những ước muốn và toan tính không đẹp lòng Chúa, để con luôn xứng đáng là Đền thờ của Chúa, trở nên dòng suối mát cho mọi người quanh con. Amen.

CONTEMPLATE MARY LIVING THE GOOD NEWS
After Jesus ascended into heaven, the Gospel was being preached by the apostles everywhere. As the number of faithful had been increasing, the persecution was more and more fierce as well, especially in Rome. The Church had to secretly celebrate liturgies in the catacombs for more than 300 years. Through Milan Edict which was issued in 313 by the Emperor of Constantine, Christianity had been recognized and declared to freely operate throughout the Roman Empire. After converting into Christianity, he built Lateran Palace which was offered by him to the Church as the Cathedral for the Bishop of Rome. Being dedicated to Saint John, this Temple has become a Basilica That is the “mother of all churches in the world.”[6]
Chasing away the merchants and overturning the money changers’ tables, Jesus said to those who had sold doves: “Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father’s house into a market!” (s.16). Since He Himself is the true Temple, as Ezekiel the prophet saw in a vision: From the right side of the Temple, there was a water current which was flowing out into a river: “Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows.”[7] Jesus’ Water and Blood which flow out from His pierced side on the cross have arisen the source of all graces and sanctification in the Church.[8]
Being a place where God is present, Temple is the one where everyone gathers to worship, thank God and receive all graces which will be granted by Him. In the Second Reading, we had been reminded by Saint Paul: “God’s Temple is sacred, and you together are that Temple.”[9] Owing to the Baptism Sacrament, every Christian is purified and consecrated so as to become God’s Temple. However, there are times when the Temple of our souls is let be turned into a commercial place, as Jesus saw in Jerusalem Temple in days of yore: People had been allowed by the priests to buy and sell lamb, sheep, doves and to change money in the Temple courtyard. The Temple had been caused to lose its solemnity and holiness due to the sounds of quarrel from merchants, the screams of animals and the foul smell.
Following the pattern of Jesus Temple, our soul abode needs to be examined and amended each day, its foundation is based on Christ: We cultivate the virtues of gentleness, modesty, simplicity, charity… so that it will be turned into a Temple for God to dwell in; all the selfishness, jealousy, calculation of wins and losses, injustice, deceit… must be all eliminated. We’ll become streams of God’s grace by which the world around us may be irrigated.
Mary’s soul was incessantly maintained pure, worthy of being God’s Temple. Cherishing the Immaculate Conception privilege, She guarded Herself against venial sins, in order to always “find favor with God”.[10] Mary unceasingly respected the temple of Her body which She was ready to offer for conceiving the Savior thanks to the Holy Spirit’s power. Her Heart thenceforth had become a throne where God’s Son reigns; Mary’s eyes, lips and Her whole body became a flowing stream of grace and joy for everyone whom She met. Just as Elizabeth heard Mary’s voice, she was filled with the Holy Spirit; the shepherds, Magi, Simeon and Anna the old were all full of happiness; the wedding banquet at Cana was overflowing with good wine…
LIVE THE GOOD NEWS WITH MARY
Following Mary’s example, I keep my soul to be free from sin, and I always worship God Who is present in me and I bring joy to everyone.
PRAY TO MARY
O Mary, assist me with recognizing and removing from my soul the desires and intentions which do not please God, so that I’m incessantly worthy of being God’s Temple, and I’ll become a cool stream for everyone who is around me. Amen.
O Mary conceived without sin,
Pray for us who have recourse to You.
