Mt 13,1-23
“…kẻ nghe Lời và hiểu, thì tất nhiên sinh hoa kết quả…”
(Mt 13,23)
CHIÊM NGẮM MẸ SỐNG TIN MỪNG:
Sống trong cảnh lưu đày, Dân Do thái mỏi mòn trông chờ Thiên Chúa thực hiện lời hứa ban Đấng Cứu Độ để giải thoát Dân, và niềm tin của họ hầu như dần tàn lụi. Tiên tri Isaia đã an ủi và củng cố đức tin cho dân rằng: Thiên Chúa đã hứa thì chắc chắn người sẽ thực hiện, giống như mưa thấm vào đất làm cho đất nên phì nhiêu, cho cây đâm chồi nảy lộc thế nào, thì Lời Chúa cũng vậy, hãy kiên nhẫn chờ đợi.[1] Gần 2 thế kỷ sau, năm 538 trước Công Nguyên, dân Do thái đã được hồi hương đúng như lời đã báo trước.
Tuy nhiên, điều Thiên Chúa hứa không chỉ là giải thoát Dân Do Thái khỏi ách nô lệ ngoại bang, nhưng quan trọng hơn còn là giải thoát nhân loại khỏi ách thống trị tội lỗi. Vì thế, khi đến thời ấn định, Chúa Giêsu đã đến thực hiện Lời hứa ấy bằng việc giảng dạy, chữa lành bệnh tật, trừ quỷ, tha tội, và nhất là qua cái chết đau thương, Người vĩnh viễn diệt trừ tội lỗi và giải thoát con người khỏi tội. Không những thế, Ơn Cứu Chuộc mà Người thực hiện còn được ban cho cả muôn loài trong thời cánh chung, vì hiện nay chúng ta đã lãnh nhận Thần Khí Sự Sống cho linh hồn, nhưng ta phải tin rằng Chúa sẽ cho thân xác ta cùng được sống đời đời với linh hồn trong Nước Chúa.[2]
Chính đức tin ấy sẽ dẫn dắt ta xác tín vào Lời Chúa hứa, để sống trọn vẹn cuộc sống này theo ý Chúa. Như thế, chúng ta trở thành những thửa đất tốt màu mỡ, để hạt giống Lời Chúa mọc lên và trổ sinh hoa trái. Thật vậy, chính Thiên Chúa đã quảng đại gieo Lời của Người vào lòng chúng ta, và tất cả mọi người đã được nghe Lời, khi “hạt rơi vào” mảnh đất tâm hồn mình. Sức mạnh của Lời Chúa quả là vô hạn. Tuy nhiên, có một thứ cản trở sức mạnh ấy, đó là tự do của con người. Thiên Chúa vẫn luôn ngỏ Lời với ta, điều quan trọng là ta đón nhận Lời Chúa với tâm tình và thái độ nào.
Thái độ thường thấy là thiếu tập trung lắng nghe Lời Chúa, người ta sẽ quên ngay điều vừa nghe, vì “quỷ dữ đến cướp đi” điều đã được gieo… Thái độ thứ hai thường thấy nơi giới trẻ: họ hồ hởi đón nhận nhưng ít thực hành, lại thiếu kiến thức giáo lý, khi bước vào môi trường đại học, nghe các giảng viên ngoại giáo xuyên tạc Lời Chúa sẽ dễ dàng đặt lại vấn đề đức tin… Loại người thứ ba vừa nghe Lời Chúa vừa theo bản năng sống gian lận, ganh ghét, tức giận…đó là những bụi gai bóp nghẹt Lời Chúa.
Chỉ người nào khôn ngoan biết sử dụng tự do của mình để lắng nghe, suy gẫm, thực hành và cảm nếm được tình yêu của Chúa qua Lời Người, như “kẻ nghe Lời và hiểu, thì tất nhiên sinh hoa kết quả gấp trăm, sáu chục, hay ba chục”.
Cô Maria chính là người thiếu nữ khôn ngoan, đặt trọn vẹn tự do của mình trong tay Chúa: “…xin Người thực hiện cho tôi như lời sứ thần nói”[3], tâm hồn Cô trở thành mảnh đất màu mỡ để Hạt Giống Ngôi Lời “gieo vào, bén rễ, lớn lên”. Cô chắt lọc từng biến cố vui buồn trong cuộc sống để nhận ra ý Chúa và thi hành, như mảnh đất nhận cả nắng mưa để hạt giống vươn mầm tươi tốt. Các nết xấu và tội lỗi không thể nào bén mảng nơi tâm hồn Cô. Cô còn chăm bón mảnh đất tâm hồn bằng muôn vàn nhân đức và hương thơm từ lòng yêu mến Chúa và tha nhân… Nhờ đó, Lời Chúa sinh hoa kết quả được gấp trăm là ơn Cứu Độ cho muôn người.
SỐNG TIN MỪNG VỚI MẸ:
Noi gương Mẹ, tôi
- Lắng đọng tâm hồn khi đọc Lời Chúa và để Lời Chúa soi dẫn tôi.
- Chọn một câu Lời Chúa làm “ý lực” để thực hiện hằng ngày hay theo định kỳ thích hợp.
CẦU NGUYỆN VỚI MẸ:
Lạy Mẹ Maria, xin dạy con biết lắng-nghe và suy gẫm Lời Chúa như Mẹ, cho con cảm nhận và chiêm ngưỡng sự mới mẻ của Lời Chúa mỗi ngày, để Lời Chúa bén rễ và lớn mạnh trong con, trổ sinh hoa trái và biến đổi đời con. Amen

FIFTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME – Year A
Mt 13,1-23
“… the man who hears the word and understands it:
he is the one who yields a harvest …” (Mt 13,23)
CONTEMPLATE MARY LIVING THE GOOD NEWS
Living in the exile situation, the Jews had languished for God’s promise fulfillment, by sending a Savior to free the people whose faith was almost gradually withered away. The people’s faith had been comforted and strengthened by prophet Isaiah: God’s promise will be certainly fulfilled, as the rain penetrated through the land, making it fertile and allowing the plants to sprout, so did God’s word: Be patient while waiting for this promise to be fulfilled. Nearly two centuries later, the Jews were repatriated in 538 BC., as they were exactly foretold.
However, God’s promise wasn’t only the Jews’ deliverance from the foreign bondage, but the humanity’s one from the dominant yoke of sin is also more important. Therefore at the appointed time, Jesus came to fulfill that promise by preaching, curing diseases, exorcism, forgiveness of sins, and in particular, owing to His painful death, He everlastingly eradicated the sins from which the human beings have been freed. Moreover, the Salvation which Jesus performed will be still given to all beings in the eschatological time, because we’ve now received the Spirit of Life for our souls, but we have to believe that our bodies will be given eternal life together with our souls in God’s Kingdom.
That faith is just the one which will lead us to rely on God’s promise, for the purpose of integral spending in this life according to His will. We thus become the rich and fertile soils, so that God’s word seeds grow and bear fruits. It’s indeed God Who generously sowed His words in our hearts, and everyone heard these words, when “the seeds fall” over his or her heart’s soil. God’s word power is really unlimited. However, that power has been hindered by an obstacle which is the human’s freedom. God is always speaking to us, the importance is that we received His words with which mood and attitude.
The common attitude is the lack of concentration while listening to God’s word which will be forgotten immediately, because “the devil came and carried off” what was sown … The second attitude is usually seen in the youths: They eagerly received God’s word which was rarely practiced and they also lack the catechism knowledge. When the youths enter the college environment and God’s word was distorted by their laic teachers, they will easily reset the faith issue … For the third type of persons, God’s word reaches their ears, but they simultaneously follow their instincts: They still live up to their defraudation, jealousy, anger: Those are the thorn bushes by which God’s word will be choked.
Only those who are aware of wisely using their freedom for listening, meditating, practising and tasting God’s love through His word, as “the man who hears the word and understands it; he’s the one who yields a harvest and produces now a hundredfold, now sixty, now thirty”.
Mary was really a wise young girl who put Her freedom in God’s hand: “… Let it be to me according to your word”, Her heart became a fat land for the Word Seed being “sown, rooted, grown”. Every joyful and sad event in Her life was filtered in order to realize God’s will and act, as a land which receives both the rain and sunlight so that the seeds sprout well. Mary’s heart couldn’t be reached by the bad traits and sins. Her heart’s soil was also nurtured by countless virtue and fragrance from Her love for God and neighbors … As a result, God’s word has borne a hundredfold fruits which is the Salvation for many people.
LIVE THE GOOD NEWS WITH MARY
Imitating Mary, I:
- Calm down my soul while reading God’s word, and let me be inspired by it.
- Choose a sentence in God’s word as a “willpower “ for daily practice or at an appropriate periodicity.
PRAY WITH MARY
O Mary, teach me to listen and meditate God’s word as Yourself, to experience and contemplate each day the newness of God’s word, so that it strongly roots and grows in me and bears fruits, as a result, my life will be transformed.
O Mary conceived without sin
